Position Overview

ISB is seeking a passionate and student-centered Elementary School Homeroom Teacher (KG-Gr.2) to join our vibrant learning community. In this role, you will serve as a key advocate for student success, creating an engaging, inquiry-based classroom environment that fosters social, emotional, and academic growth. You will collaborate closely with colleagues, counselors, and families to design and deliver instruction that is both data-informed and personalized, ensuring every student feels empowered and supported. As an optimistic, adaptable, and culturally competent educator, you will embody our core values of integrity, responsibility, and care, contributing positively to our inclusive school culture while inspiring young learners to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Instruct ES students aligned with the practices, standards, benchmarks, and learning outcomes of the ISB curriculum, along with its Vision, Mission, and Definition of Learning.

  • Partner with counselors, administration, and other staff to ensure care and support for the social, emotional and learning success of children.

  • Assess student learning and provide timely, quality feedback to improve student learning.

  • Use data to inform instruction and monitor student growth. 

  • Accommodate for learning needs based on student’s Individualized Learning Plans.

  • Co-teach, co-plan, and co-assess with student support teachers and other homeroom teachers to ensure appropriate challenge, strategies, and learning happens for all students.

  • Collaborate effectively with grade level colleagues

  • Participate in student support and referral processes to ensure students’ needs are understood and met.

  • Engage in professional development to ensure research-supported practices in the instruction and care of children are used at ISB.

  • Communicate directly and collaboratively with parents and families to support student learning and well-being.

  • Positively contribute to school culture through support and sponsorship of a student club or non-stipended extracurricular activity. 

  • Other duties as appropriately assigned by the ES Principal.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Teaching license or certification for elementary school years.

  • At least 3 years of teaching experience.

  • Teaching experience in a similar type of international school and this age group (5-8 years old) is an advantage.

  • KG-Grade 2 Teachers: Experience with reading and writing methodology aligned with current science of reading 

  • Experience teaching conceptual-based mathematics

  • Inquiry approach to teaching and learning (especially in the areas of Science and Social Studies)

  • Experience designing units with UBD - ‘Understanding by Design’ is an advantage

  • Experience teaching English Language Learners and supporting translanguaging is an advantage.

  • Experience using data to inform instruction through a Professional Learning Community (PLC) 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles within the classroom for students of mixed abilities.

  • Invested in pedagogical best practice and alignment with current educational research

Compensation

ISB provides a highly competitive compensation and benefits package that is commensurate with the candidate’s experience and aligned with global international school standards. The initial contract is a two year commitment.
