The Learning Support teacher is responsible for providing an educational environment in which students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological growth. The teacher is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will enable students to achieve academic success in accordance with ISB’s philosophy. The successful candidate will hold relevant, current learning support/special education degrees and certifications.
Core Responsibilities
Develop students' disciplinary thinking, critical inquiry, research, analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Utilize varied assessments and student data to monitor progress, adapt instruction, and provide timely, actionable feedback.
Integrate appropriate technology and contemporary resources to enhance learning and connect classroom concepts with real-world contexts.
Partner with counselors, administrators, and parents to support students' academic achievement and social-emotional well-being.
Chaperone local/international trips, including DELVE experiential learning week, and fulfill assigned supervision duties.
Maintain professional obligations, meeting deadlines, and honoring schedules.
Strictly uphold ISB standards of integrity, respect, and care.
Serves as an Advisor in the High School Advisory Program.
Collaborate as an effective member of high school teams (PLC, Department, Grade Level, etc.)
Positively contribute to school culture through the support and sponsorship of a student club or non-stipended extracurricular activity.
Participates in professional development training and attends required presentations.
Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and working with colleagues.
Ensures student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and /or program classification.
Provides a positive and safe environment in which students are encouraged to actively engage in the learning process.
Strictly uphold ISB expectations for child safeguarding and student well-being.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
A valid teaching license or certification that includes learning support/ special education
At least three years of relevant and recent teaching experience in a high school setting
Experience with, and a belief in, an inquiry approach to teaching and learning
Experience teaching English Language Learners
Experience using data to inform instruction through a Professional Learning Community (PLC)
Experience with co-planning in order to provide co-teaching in various subjects
A strong background in collaborating with classroom teachers to develop and expand differentiation practices and accommodations in the classroom
Experience working within an MTSS model, including experience with academic remediation, particularly in the area of writing
Qualified and experienced with administering and evaluating normative assessments
Strong experience in developing comprehensive IEPs or ILPs
Background in Social Emotional Learning and working closely with counseling teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching IB and/or AP
Experience teaching a standards-based curriculum using the Common Core Standards

Compensation
ISB provides a highly competitive compensation and benefits package that is commensurate with the candidate’s experience and aligned with global international school standards. The initial contract is a two year commitment.
