Position Overview
ISB seeks a Middle School Science Teacher to foster scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on learning for students in grades 6 through 8. Using the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and an integrated curriculum covering biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science, the teacher will instruct five grade-level science classes, serve as an Advisory teacher, and lead a student activity or club. The position requires a caring, pedagogically strong educator skilled in project-based learning (PBL), embedding STEM skills, and differentiating instruction for diverse learners within an inclusive, collaborative school community.
Core Responsibilities
Instruct MS-aged children aligned with the practices, standards, benchmarks, and learning outcomes of the ISB curriculum, along with its Mission, Pillars, Learner Attributes, Definition of Learning, and Community of Practice
Partner with counselors, administration, and other staff to ensure care and support for the social, emotional and learning success of middle school children
Assess student learning and provide timely, quality feedback to improve student learning
Adjust for learning needs based on students’ Individualized Educational or Accommodation Plans
Build and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues
Co-teach, co-plan, and co-assess with student service teachers to ensure appropriate challenge, strategies, and learning happens for all students
Serve as an advisor in our school advisory program
Participate in student share, support, and referral processes to ensure students’ needs are understood and met
Engage in professional development to ensure research-supported practices in the instruction and care of children are used at ISB
Communicate directly and collaboratively with parents and families to positively improve student learning and/or well-being
Support student participation and connection through sponsorship of a student club or non-stipended extracurricular activity
Active engagement in the curricular and co-curricular life of the school
Chaperone one grade-level multi-day, overnight(s) trip within Thailand per year
Positively contribute to school culture through positivity, care for others, and shared sense of purpose and community
Other duties as appropriately assigned by the MS Principal
Required Qualifications
Teaching license or certification for middle school years
Subject expertise in the primary area of employment
At least 3 years of teaching experience
Teaching experience in a similar type of international school and this age group (11-14 years old) is an advantage
Commitment to the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) of students
Alignment with school’s inclusive philosophy and environment
Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with people of diverse backgrounds
Commitment to plan and accommodate for diverse learners and their needs
Demonstrated skill at differentiating within the classroom for students of mixed abilities
Experience with Standard-Based Grading
Experience designing units with UBD - ‘Understanding by Design’ is an advantage
Experience collaboratively using data to inform instruction within a Professional Learning Community (PLC)
Demonstrated Growth Mindset and passion for lifelong learning
Commitment to pedagogical best practice, professional growth, and alignment with current educational research

Satisfactory background checks, particularly in areas of child safeguarding

Compensation
ISB provides a highly competitive compensation and benefits package that is commensurate with the candidate’s experience and aligned with global international school standards. The initial contract is a two year commitment.
