HS English Teacher

Schutz American School is seeking an experienced and engaging High School English Teacher to join our team in August 2027. The position includes teaching English courses in Grades 9–12, including AP classes. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about literature, writing, critical thinking, and developing student voice. The successful candidate will embrace our focus on Personalized Learning, using student strengths, needs, interests, goals, and learning data to create meaningful and challenging learning experiences.

• Teach English Language Arts courses in Grades 9–12, including AP courses as assigned.

• Design engaging, rigorous learning experiences in literature, writing, communication, and critical thinking.

• Use Personalized Learning strategies to respond to students’ strengths, needs, interests, and goals.

• Use assessment data and student work to differentiate instruction and monitor student growth.

• Provide timely, meaningful feedback that supports student reflection and improvement.

• Support student goal setting, portfolios, and Student-Led Conferences.

• Foster student voice, choice, independence, and self-advocacy.

• Collaborate with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to strengthen curriculum and instruction.

• Build positive relationships with students and maintain a supportive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.

• Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.

• Contribute to the wider life of the school through advisory, activities, clubs, events, or other co-curricular opportunities.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.

• Valid and up-to-date teaching certification.

• Minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience.

• Master’s Degree in Education or a related field.

• Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

• Familiarity with AERO curriculum and MTSS

• International teaching experience.

• Experience supporting English Language Learners (ELL) and familiarity with best practices for ELL instruction.
