About this role

We are looking for an Upper Secondary Visual Arts Teacher to inspire curiosity, creative expression, academic growth, and transferable competencies across Upper Secondary at our Adliswil Campus.

In this role, you will nurture a welcoming environment where upper secondary learners feel known, valued, and empowered to explore diverse artistic mediums, critique visual culture, and tackle real-world creative challenges. You will bring instructional expertise in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Visual Arts course, helping learners develop deep conceptual understanding, technical studio mastery, and personal artistic agency. Grounded in our commitment to global citizenship, you will encourage learning that celebrates diverse cultural art traditions and builds creative confidence for an evolving world.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusting relationships, adopt a mentor mindset, and adapt instruction to meet the diverse academic, social and emotional needs of students

  • Connect complex discipline knowledge to real-world context, and global issues in accordance with our Mission, values, principles and Portrait of a ZIS Learner

  • Teach IB and/or ZIS courses, as assigned, in alignment with official syllabus and ZIS standards

  • Establish clear criteria and scaffold learning without lowering expectations, ensuring multilingual learners and diverse thinkers thrive

  • Continually check for understanding, administer agreed-upon assessment tools, document progress, and provide timely, actionable feedback

  • Participate actively in campus, departmental, and school-wide curriculum alignment and development

  • Serve as an Extended Essay supervisor

  • Attend, chaperone, and actively participate in an annual residential trip.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in Visual Arts instruction across upper secondary levels: Proven ability to deliver rigorous, learner-centered instruction in Visual Arts for Grades 7 through 12, with specific expertise in the IBDP Visual Arts curriculum

  • Versatility across artistic media and techniques: Experience guiding learners across standard and digital visual media (e.g., painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, digital arts, media studies, or ceramics).

  • Instructional practice at the Adliswil Campus: Experience designing inquiry-driven, studio-based learning opportunities that nurture learners' critical thinking, analytical skills, creative risk-taking, and social-emotional growth.

  • Commitment to building trust and partnerships with families: Proven ability to establish strong, transparent relationships with parents, keeping them connected to their child's artistic journey, exhibition showcases, and wellbeing.

  • Focus on intercultural understanding and global citizenship: Skilled at supporting diverse international learners, honoring different cultural art forms and global artistic perspectives, and fostering confidence in visual communication.

  • Relational practitioner focused on inclusive classroom cultures: Dedicated to establishing safe, welcoming daily studio routines where every learner feels known, valued, and safe to stretch their creative thinking.

Preferences

  • Experience and interest in interdisciplinary teaching an advantage

  • Skills and willingness to contribute to the wider school community through sports or activities.

Minimum experience: 3 years

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience teaching across secondary grade levels with proven expertise or readiness for IBDP

  • Proven track record or capacity for Extended Essay supervision

Credentials

  • Relevant degree and official secondary teaching credentials in the subject are essential

Compensation & benefits

Compensation

Depending on education and experience you can expect a starting salary of between CHF 85,000 - 102,400
